How to Combat Armpit Smell
With the many products available to deal with it, you do not have to live with unpleasant armpit smell. This can be an embarrassing problem and some people are more apt to have a problem with this issue.
While in some cases armpit smell is the result of heavy exertion and perspiration, it is possible to have the smell even when you are not sweating. It is also possible to mask the smell and still perspire. Sometimes changes in hormones, such as when you are pregnant, can increase this problem.
Failing to do something about armpit smell can not only be embarrassing, but it can end up costing you money as well. Depending on how bad the odor is, it can get onto your clothes and be nearly impossible to get out, even after several washes.
Below are some tips on dealing with armpit smell.
It is Normal – Usually
First of all, you should know that some armpit smell and other body odors are normal. If you have always had the same problem then you do not need to worry about a medical condition being the cause of the smell.
If, however, you notice a sudden change in your body odor, that is worth paying a visit to your doctor. While your body will change slowly over time, any sudden changes like that should not be ignored.
Trial and Error
When trying to get rid of unpleasant armpit smell, you need to figure out what is going to work for you. Understand that each body is different. What will work wonders for you might not work at all for someone else.
For this reason, finding the best solution for you is often a matter of trial and error. When choosing a deodorant, you should find one that is both an antiperspirant and deodorant. Also, some products contain baking soda, which is a natural odor absorber.
If you are not having luck with your deodorant, try one with baking soda.
There are some deodorants that claim to be “clinical strength”. While these products do usually provide extra protection, you should not start with them. Instead, only try those products if the regular strength products are not giving you the desired results.
In addition to the many over the counter products available, many find the solution for their armpit smell in some of the everyday products that they have in their kitchen cabinets.
As mentioned earlier, baking soda is a natural way to deal with odor. Try applying a small amount of baking soda to your armpits. Also, some swear by the application of vinegar or alcohol.
Unpleasant armpit smell is easy to deal with once you find the product that works best for you. If your deodorant is not working, then don’t keep using it. Instead, keep trying different products until you find the one that eliminates the unpleasant odor.
